Emails intended for Carl Paladino - Episode 001
As some of you may know from my Twitter updates, I’ve been recently receiving emails intended for NY Governor candidate Carl Paladino. The amount of email I’m receiving is rising each day, so I started responding in a horrible, sarcastic manner.  I will be posting these emails. On Thu, Aug 26, 2010 at 8:28 AM, Robert Cull wrote: Sir, I am currently receiving public assistance...

Travel Regrets?
Some people would think that I travel differently now that I own my own business, and I’m not expensing it all back to Microsoft.  Believe it or not, that isn’t the case. I am a frugal guy by nature.  This is different than cheap.  I waste $70 per meal on The Rock, but won’t buy shoes that cost more than $40. When I worked at Xbox, I used to go through the list of flights,...

The Long Weekend - Highs and Lows
Being a business owner means that my schedule is a bit more flexible than that of my wife and friends.  That said, it’s nice to feel somewhat normal, and sync my schedule with that of the rest of the world. It was great to catch up with some friends that I hadn’t spent time with lately, and I got to take in a few new games, and movies. Here are some brief reviews of the non-gaming...

Vacation is Over, Back to Vacation
Our 10 day trip to Orlando, Florida has come to an end.  We’ve done the theme parks, the water parks, the heat, and the expensive hotel food.  Now it’s time to get back to reality. It took us (literally) 17 hours to arrive in Florida, and mid-day on the 29th we’ll be home in Seattle, awaiting real life to happen on the 30th. With the iPhone 4 launch taking place while I was...

Quiddler: More Fun Than Scrabble
On our trip Heather and I brought only one game, a card game called quiddler. Each player gets dealt cards with letters and points on them (think Scrabble tiles, but sometimes the cards have multiple letters), and each player draws and throws out in an attempt to spell the words with the most points. You must play all your words at once, and still have one left to discard There’s a...

Whisper a Prayer for Me...
Maybe heading to the grand opening of a theme park based on one of the most popular IPs in the world wasn’t the best idea. Reports of folks standing in line for 6-8 hours just to enter the park, and then an additional 1-2 hour wait to get on a ride. As I stand in the hot Orlando sun - sweaty, sticky, frustrated, tired, and bored - think of where you are reading this, and smile knowing that...

My E3 Press Conference Top 5
I was never paid to give my opinions on video games, and as a marketer for the gaming industry, I try and live by the motto: If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. With an industry-wide increased focus on the casual game market, I was worried this year.  I was less enthusiastic about E3 2010 than I had ever been for an E3. Luckily, there were enough core...

Want a Code for Worms on XBLA?
I have had a handful of XBLA codes for the past few years.  I need to get rid of them, so 1st come - 1st served.  Enjoy. The System Is Broken
America ran for about 100 years on the idea that you will grow up, graduate, get a job, and generally be taken care of by that job. That changed - faster than any of us expected, when the recession hit a few years ago.  Currently, unemployment is the highest its been in 20 years.  There’s no such thing as a stable job.  There’s not nearly as much incentive to slave away 60 hours a...
